AKS Information

| The Australian Kiteflyers Society was formed by
kite-flyers in 1978 to foster and encourage the timeless art of
kiteflying. The society's aims are to promote safe kiteflying and to share
the skills of its members through workshops and public demonstrations. The
society also stages a number of kiting events and competitions for single,
dual and quad line flyers. The AKS has members all over Australia and
internationally who are kept informed of kiting events through the
society's magazine Flying High. |

The activities of the society include;

regular fly-ins each month |

presenting The Festival of the Winds, Australia's largest kiteflying event, in conjunction
with Waverly Council, at Bondi Beach annually. |

Members Receive;

a Resource and Information Manual which lists sources of kites,
building materials, flying locations. |

Flying High, the society's newsletter, keeping members abreast
of activities, forthcoming events, kite plans and building and
flying hints. |

kite books at special prices. |
| - |
insurance coverage for public liability at official A.K.S.
functions and fly-ins. |

Membership is available to individuals and families for $45 per year
and to organisations for $60 per year.
